buenas practicas comercialesIn order to establish the conditions required to implement various collaborative actions which are included in the FRONTEIRA COMERCIAL ABIERTA project, Andalusia’s Retail Business Association (CECA) has signed two agreements: one with Sevilla Global and one with La Palma del Condado City Council.

One of the inter-related, complementary activities which forms part of the overall implementation plan of the Project is the development of the Strategic Cross-Border Business Plan, which is made up of various inter-related activities: a local business observatory, business management improvement programme, quality systems training programme and a virtual cross-border business centre.

The plan also includes a Cross-Border Cooperation Network which will launch and consolidate the Services and Supply Portal with its collaboration mechanisms, support activities and technological tools.

- Setting up the Cross-Border Observatory: This will be based on field work using surveys and direct observations. A structural analysis of business in the area as well as its contextual development will be carried out.

Other activities are currently being carried out, such as:

• Study of the viability and optimum design of the Services and Supply Portal for small businesses in the Algarve and Andalusia

• Promotional DVD providing information on Town Centre Management (TCM) Schemes as the future of retail

• Transnational meeting on Town Centre Management Schemes

In order to respond to the competitive demands and needs of today’s markets, good practice guidelines must be implemented in business management so that retailers can adapt to the most competitive situations and demands.

These guidelines include basic points about what makes a good retailer and how to improve services in order to offer customers a high quality retail company.

The aims of the Manual of Good Practices for Small Businesses are as follows:

• To make business owners in the sector aware of aspects relating to quality, the environment and health and safety in the workplace.

• To give businesspeople an overview of the different systems available for the management of quality, the environment and health and safety in the workplace.

• To demonstrate and propose good management practices which can be applied to the business and illustrate these practices with examples.

• To provide simple tools which can be used to carry out continuous improvements to the management of the establishment.

• Provide business owners with information regarding the Basic laws and regulations which are applicable to small businesses. This information will be up-to-date at the time that the manual goes to print.
